How It Works

  1. Draw a line. Higher on the page is a higher note. The loop starts playing as soon as you lift your finger.
  2. Pick an instrument. Each color at the bottom is a different sound. The eraser is at the end of the row.
  3. Choose a mood. Tap the mood name at the top to change the scale, the tempo and the loop length.
  4. Keep going later. Your drawings save by themselves. Tap the grid button at the top left to see them all.
  5. Share it. Tap the share button to make a video of your song coming together, line by line.

FAQ

I don't hear anything.
Turn up the volume. Doodle Band plays even when your iPhone is on silent, unless “Follow silent switch” is turned on in Settings (open the gallery, then tap the gear). Also check that “Play notes while drawing” is on if you want to hear notes while your finger moves.

How do the drums work?
With the Beats brush, the top of the page is the hi-hat, the middle is the snare and the bottom is the kick. Tap for one hit, or draw a line for a steady beat.

How do I make a chord?
Draw a straight line from top to bottom. The notes it crosses are strummed together.

How do I change the speed?
Tap the mood name at the top (for example “Sunny”) to open Mood & Tempo. Choose Slow, Walk or Fast, or use the slider. A shorter loop length also plays your lines faster.

How do I erase?
Tap the eraser at the end of the brush row and rub over the part you want to remove. Touch and hold the eraser to clear the whole canvas. Undo and redo are at the top.

Can I undo with a gesture?
Yes. Tap the canvas with two fingers to undo, or with three fingers to redo.

How does Apple Pencil work?
Press harder for bolder lines and louder notes. On iPads that support hover, hold the tip just above the screen to see which note you'll play. Double-tap your Apple Pencil to switch to the eraser. To rest your hand on the screen while you draw, turn on “Draw with Apple Pencil only” in Settings.

Where are my drawings saved?
On your device. Every drawing saves automatically, and the last one opens when you come back. Tap the grid button to open the gallery, where you can rename, duplicate or delete them. Touch and hold a drawing for these options.

How do I save a video to Photos?
Tap the share button, choose Drawing + Song or Song only, pick a format, and tap Create Video. When it's done, tap Share, then Save Video. iOS will ask once for permission to add to your photos.

Are there any in-app purchases?
No. Every brush, mood and feature is included, and there are no ads.

Is it OK for kids?
Yes. There are no ads, no accounts, no chat and no internet connection, and nothing is collected.

Doodle Band (“the App”) is provided by an independent developer (“we”). This policy explains how the App handles information.

Information We Collect

We do not collect any personal information. The App has no accounts, no sign-in, no ads, no analytics and no tracking, and it does not connect to the internet.

Your drawings
Your drawings and settings are stored only on your device. They are never sent to us or to any third party.

Photos
If you choose to save a video or picture to Photos, iOS asks for permission to add to your photo library. The App only adds the file you chose to save. It cannot see or read your existing photos.

The App is purchased through the App Store. Apple processes the payment, and we do not receive your name, email address or payment information. Please see Apple’s Privacy Policy for details.

Children’s Privacy

The App may be used by children. Because we do not collect, store or share any personal information from anyone, including children under 13, no personal information is collected under the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

Deleting Your Data

You can delete any drawing from the gallery. Deleting the App removes all drawings and settings stored on the device.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy when the App changes. Updates will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date.
